California Friendly Landscape Training Program for the Professional Landscaper (formerly known as Protector del Agua)

Landscape Performance Certification Program

The Landscape Performance Certification Program is a FREE water management tool for homeowner associations, landscapers and property managers.  Participants in the program use the Internet to track their irrigation meter’s monthly water use and compare it to a custom water budget.  This enables property managers and landscapers to easily identify areas that are over watered, and enhances their accountability to homeowner association boards.

Participants of this program receive a monthly Irrigation Performance Report directed to the Property Owner, Property Manager and Landscaper to:

  • Easily track irrigation water use
  • Help reduce water bills
  • Improve the health, appearance and value of landscapes
  • Protect the environment by decreasing urban runoff
  • Maintain compliance with NPDES requirements

A recent study shows that irrigation meters participating in this program save an average of 765 gallons of water per day compared to those meters that are not part of this program.

 Public Sector Water Efficiency Program

(click on link, above, for details)

It’s easy for public agencies to save water and money. Millions of dollars have been earmarked for the Public Sector Water Efficiency Program.  The four customer-friendly services below will help your agency increase water-use efficiency.

  1. Water Audits - Our auditors survey your building and grounds for water saving opportunities.
  2. Enhanced Device Incentives - Metropolitan has increased conservation equipment incentives and is paying them upfront resulting in little to no out-of-pocket expenses.
  3. Pay For Performance Cash Back - Reduce your facility’s annual water usage through behavioral modifications by at least 10 percent and Metropolitan will pay 60¢ for every 1,000 gallons saved over last year’s usage.
  4. Hook Up to Recycled Water Supply - Agencies that have access to recycled water supplies may be eligible for assistance with system retrofit costs.

Metropolitan provides financial assistance to retrofit public sites to use recycled water for landscape irrigation.  Incentives of $250 per acre-foot, up to actual on-site retrofit costs, for the estimated two years of water use.

A public sector customer is defined as a city, county, state or federal facility funded through public funding.  Non-profit organizations are not eligible under this program.
