Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts Soil & Water Conservation Merit Badge

As part of its multi-faceted public education effort, the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) sponsors the Orange County Council, BSA’s Soil & Water Conservation Merit Badge and offers the Water Resources and Conservation Patch produced jointly with Girl Scouts of Orange County. MWDOC partners with local water providers and education partners to host activity-based STEM clinics that teach Scouts BSA and Girl Scouts about where their water comes from, the challenges of getting water to Orange County, and how to be water efficient.

Scouts BSA Soil & Water Conservation Merit Badge

MWDOC and the Orange County Boy Scouts of America are offering Scouts the opportunity to earn a Soil and Water Conservation Merit Badge. Scouts ages 11-17 can earn a Soil and Water Conservation Merit Badge by completing a 4-hour clinic hosted by MWDOC and participating local water providers and education partners. Clinics educate Scouts about the relationship between soil and water, various soil and water conservation practices, water pollution, and water treatment.

Girl Scouts Water Resources
and Conservation Patch

Girl Scouts Water Resources and Conservation Patch

MWDOC and Girl Scouts of Orange County have partnered to develop the Water Resources and Conservation Patch Program. Girl Scouts of all ages can earn a Water Resources and Conservation Patch by completing a 2-hour, STEM-based clinic hosted by MWDOC and participating local water providers and education partners. The award-winning Water Resources and Conservation Patch Program educates Girl Scouts about where their water comes from, the importance of Orange County water resources, and how to be water efficient.
