Meet Ricky the Rambunctious RaindropSM
Ricky the Rambunctious RaindropSM has been inspiring and leading generations of Orange County residents to be good water stewards for 50 years! He first appeared in Orange County classrooms five decades ago and has helped pique students’ interest in water-focused topics like the water cycle, Orange County water supply sources, and water conservation. Ricky still visits classrooms today through the MWDOC Choice School Program, makes celebrity appearances at community events, and inspires budding young artists through the MWDOC Water Awareness Poster Contest.
“Ricki the Rambunctious Raindrop” was first imagined by an Orange County school teacher and was brought to life as the Municipal Water District of Orange County’s official mascot in 1974. Since that time, Ricky has been engaging Orange County’s youngest water users in critical lessons about the value of water. Students learn that if we protect and save our most precious natural resource today, Orange County can have a secure, reliable water supply for decades to come.
