The Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) and The Toro Company (Partners) are committed to helping Orange County residents save water!
Send in two (2) or three (3) photos of your front yard along with a sentence or so describing why you need assistance improving your current outdoor watering system. The goal is to achieve an efficient usage of water, and also to reduce your monthly water bill. The winner of the Xtreme Water Makeover Contest (Contest) will receive the following prizes:
- An upgrade of your front yard irrigation system that includes the following items:
- An EPA WaterSense certified weather-based smart irrigation controller with weather sensing devices and soil moisture sensor
- High efficiency spray and rotating nozzles with spray bodies
- Drip irrigation tubing, pressure regulators/filters and emitters
- Soil amendment
- EPA WaterSense and EPA EnergyStar appliances
- Clothes washer
- Dish washer
- Fixtures – (EPA certified)
- Low flow shower heads
- Low flow toilet(s)

ELIGIBILITY: To enter/participate in the Contest, you must be a legal resident of Orange County, California and be the titled owner and on-site resident of the submitted property (Participant). Employees of the Partners or Sponsors, administrator and their respective affiliates, parent and subsidiary companies, including members of their households or immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, and spouse or “step” of the property of each) are prohibited from entering the Contest.
AGREEMENT TO THE OFFICIAL RULES: Participation in this Contest constitutes Participant’s full and unconditional agreement to (i) these official rules (Official Rules”); (ii) all eligibility requirements and (iii) the decisions of the administrator, which are binding and final on matters related to this Contest. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, provincial, territorial, local and municipal laws and regulations. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein. For purposes of this Contest, a “day” is defined as a 24-hour period, beginning at 12:00 AM PST and ending at 11:59 PM PST. Administrator’s computer, or that of its designee, runs the official clock for the Contest and will solely determine the time by which an entry is received.
TIMING: The Contest begins on July 1, 2019, at 12:00 AM (PST) and ends on August 31, 2019 at 11:59 PM PST (the “Contest Period”), and consists of one (1) entry period.
LIMIT: One (1) entry per property household and regardless of the number of email addresses used.
JUDGING and WINNER SELECTION: MWDOC and The Toro Company will have sole responsibility to judge all entries and select the winner of the Contest. As part of the judging process, an on-site visit and evaluation shall be performed to validate the entry.
An IRS Form 1099 will be issued in the name of the Prize Winner. Prize Winner must provide his or her Social Security number in accordance with Internal Revenue Service regulations. The IRS Form 1099 will be issued for the calendar year in which the prize was delivered and fulfilled.
GENERAL CONDITIONS: By accepting the Prize(s), the Prize Winner consents to the use of his/her name, city/state of residence, photograph, visual and/or audio likeness for advertising or promotional purposes by Partners and Sponsors, including but not limited to the posting of Prize Winner’s name on the Partners and Sponsor’s website(s), or other online announcements, without additional compensation, permission or notification except where prohibited by law. Participants and/or their immediate relatives agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claims, actions, injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly from participating in this Contest or any promotion-related activity or travel, or from the awarding, delivery, acceptance, use, misuse, possession, loss or, discretion of any Prize awarded. Should any portion of the Contest be in the Partner’s sole opinion, compromised by any means, which in the sole opinion of the Partners, impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper play, or submission of entries, Partners reserve the right at its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Contest and if terminated, at its discretion, select the potential Prize Winner from all, eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to action taken using the judging procedure referenced above.
GOVERNING LAW/ JURISDICTION: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules or the rights and obligation of Participants, Partners or Sponsors in connection with the Promotion shall be governed by the laws of the state of California, without giving any effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules. Any dispute shall be resolved in a court of law in Orange County, California.
